**Baganan:** A softshell turtle was rescued from the Harop fish market area of Baganan in Howrah. On Tuesday evening, a few local youths rescued the turtle from the bushes by the roadside. After trying to contact an environmental organization without success, they decided to release the turtle into the river themselves. The incident created a stir in the area.

According to local sources, on Tuesday evening, a few youths noticed something moving in the bushes by the roadside while passing through the Harop fish market road. Suspecting something was amiss, they turned on their mobile flashlight and approached. There, they found a turtle lying on the ground and rescued it.

After that, the turtle was safely placed in a large container. To ensure it was properly cared for, the local youths tried to contact an environmental organization. However, due to some reason, they could not reach out, and ultimately decided to return the turtle to its natural habitat.

Later, the local youths released the turtle into the river. Residents of the area welcomed their initiative.
