British-era Vashapole's platform washed away in Ghatala, disrupting communication

**Ghatala:** Due to continuous rain from a low-pressure system, the water level of the river rose, causing trouble at the historic Vashapole in Ghatala. On Thursday morning, a part of the platform of this Vashapole, built during the British era, was washed away by the water's current. As a result, communication in the area has been disrupted.

According to local sources, the water levels of the Shilabati and Jhumi rivers in Ghatala have been steadily rising due to the rain. Meanwhile, a bamboo bridge in the Nimtala area collapsed under the force of the water. A part of the collapsed bridge floated with the river water and collided with the Vashapole. It was this collision that caused a section of the Vashapole's platform to break away and be swept away.

As the Vashapole is one of the important means of transportation for local people, many have faced difficulties due to the incident. Upon receiving the news, maintenance workers quickly arrived at the scene and began rescue operations. A part of the washed-away platform was found several kilometers away. Efforts are underway to recover it and restore normalcy.

Attention is being paid to the river's water level and current conditions. Initiatives have been taken to quickly repair the damaged part of the Vashapole and restore communication.
